I continued to work on my poem. I finished the back and began to work on the front side. I had to talk about the Alliteration of my poem which means repetition than personification, Metaphor, Simile, Imagery, Hyperbole.
I took a test about fences and wrote a 3 paragraph essay about how has a certain character has brought harm to others and change them. Also how the actions of the person relates to the story.
I had to make a power point slide on a character on fences and had to say what I would find in Cory's trashcan. I had other options to choose from but I picked Cory because I wanted to change it up. I wanna make it from a teen prospective.
I did an assignment that required naming the characteristics of a character from fences. I had to write how their characteristics affect others in the book/film. I did Troy because''s characteristics are much easier to list due to how he treated others.
I did the same thing from yesterday we continued watching fences. I completed the 20 question assignment and finished watching fences. I was told it the same as the book and it was true but that's with most book that has a movie.
Today we finished reading the book and found out that the woman Troy was cheating with passed away while giving birth and Troy asked Rose if she can help him take care of the baby. Later on in the story we hear that Troy told the scout to not come and watch Corey, which makes him and Corey have multiple fights which leads to Corey getting kicked out. Troy later passed away in the yard death had finally found him couple couple of weeks later we find out Lyons was in jail and Corey in the military.
What I did in class was the same thing from yesterday but we went over the assignment to confirm if it was an actual fact or claim. Once that got finished we continued reading fences and found out that Troy got another women pregnant and told Rose.
Today I had to write claims about the book ¨Fences by August Wilson¨ Once I got my claim I had to go back and find textual evidence from the book to back up my claim. What I learned out of this is whats the difference from a claim and an actual fact.
We pick up the reading on fences from yesterday and learned that Troy is cheating on his wife Rose and he has 2 children Lyons and Corey, Lyons would constantly ask Troy for money because he don´t have a job. Troys other son Corey loves to play football and have an scout to coming to check him out but he can only play if he´s doing his chores and going to work
In class we read a book called Fences by August Wilson and at the start of the story there's a man named Bono who confronts his friend, Troy about how wrong it's for Troy to cheat on his wife. Than his wife Rose came and the three started talking about how unfair society is. What I learned from this is how to read a play and act like the characters.
What we Thursday was take a benchmark for the rest of the class period. The Benchmark involved us to read multiple articles and had to answer multiple choice questions at the end and write a short essay and use evidence from the text to back up our information
Today we read a Poem called "Nothing Gold Can Stay" it was written by Robert Frost. He message of the poem was about the fleeting nature of beauty, youth, and life itself. We had to answer multiple questions at the end and come up with our own questions and comments.
Today we read an poem called "Birches" by Robert Frost the poem was about "The Longing for Heaven and the Pull of Earth." The main purpose of the story was to tell readers that it's always good to escape the earth and go to your childhood.
Today we read an poem called Out, Out- written by Robert Frost. The theme of the poem is that life goes on. I learned about the message of the poem and how to add personal comments and questions. Than I had to add a personal connection to the poem
We kept presenting our projects in front of the rest of the class afterwards we started learning about Robert Frost. We watched a documentary about who he was and the poems he wrote.
Today we presented our projects I learned how to make proper eye contact with the audience. I talked about the personal connections with the story and brought about how my teacher has PTSD and how it affects him.
After we read the story I had to make connections that I can relate to in the story. My first connection is reacting off of fear like going into survival mode to get past the situation. The second connection is that my teacher used to be in the military. When he came back from deployment PTSD followed him and stuck with him his whole life that whenever something hits the ground he gets flashbacks. It seems like it really bothers him but he plays it off by making us laugh.
