What I learned in American Literature

I learned in American Literature that words and phrases in a poem can have deeper meanings than they might seem at first glance. As long as the author's point of view is clear, you may get a sense of what he or she is trying to say. You may be able to learn or illustrate a valuable lesson from what they have written.
